I heard the SCIP public portal is now available. What is this, and how can I access it?
The Substances of Concern in articles as such or in complex articles (Products) (SCIP) dissemination portal, also called the SCIP public portal, is an online tool administered by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Members of the public can use the portal to access certain information submitted to the SCIP database.
The SCIP database contains information on EU products containing Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) identified in the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation at concentrations over 0.1% weight by weight. Some information submitted to the SCIP database is publicly available, and can be accessed via the SCIP public portal. However, other SCIP information is considered confidential and is not publicly accessible.
The SCIP public portal may be accessed at https://echa.europa.eu/scip-database.
