The EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EU SRR) allows some exemptions to the requirement for reporting listed substances in a ship's inventory of hazardous materials (IHM). These align with exemptions first laid out in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) IHM requirements. Specifically:
- Materials listed in Annex II (or IMO Table B) that are inherent components in solid metals/metal alloys (such as steel, aluminum, plating, solders, etc.), if they are used in general construction (such as hull, pipes, equipment housings, etc.), are not required to be listed in the inventory.
- Although electrical and electronic equipment must be listed in the inventory, the amount of hazardous materials potentially contained in printed wiring boards/printed circuit boards installed in this equipment does not need to be reported in the inventory.
