CAS: Chemical Abstract Service. An identification number for substances. CAS numbers are unique IDs for substances, an essential component in the Assent database.
CE Mark: The Conformité Européenne mark is placed on the products to declare that they meet the essential requirements of applicable directives and regulations.
COC: Certificate Of Compliance, or Certificate Of Conformance, or Certificate Of Conformity is a document issued by competent authorities. It confirms that a product answers required specifications.
EEE: Electric and Electronic Equipment is the material dependent on electric currents or magnetic fields. It can be divided into ten categories.
EICC: Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition is the world's largest industry coalition dedicated to electronics supply chain responsibility.
FMD: Full Material Disclosure. The Supplier Portal provides users with an option to submit a Full Material Disclosure that can be on the part level or can serve as the replacement for regulations that support the format.
GADSL: Global Automotive Declarable Substance List
IEC-62474: The International Standard for the electrical and electronics industry on material declaration that includes an internationally recognized Declarable Substance List (DSL), a material declaration procedure and an XML-schema for data exchange
IPC: Institute of Printed Circuits
IPC-1752A: The materials declaration standard for companies in the supply chain to share information on materials in products.
- Class A: A broad, company-level supplier compliance statement for any regulation whose substances are covered by the IPC-1752 standard
- Class B: A supplier statement describing the amount of different groupings of materials within a product
- Class C: A supplier-provided list of declarable substance categories with mass and total concentration at a product level within each group if above thresholds
- Class D: A supplier-provided Full Material Disclosure divulging every substance in the product down to the homogeneous level, including location, mass, and/or PPM
PPM: Parts Per Million is a measurement that is expressed in milligrams per liter. It measures the mass of a substance per volume of water.
REACH: Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances (REACH). REACH is a regulation of the European Union, adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, while enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry. It also promotes alternative methods for the hazard assessment of substances in order to reduce the number of tests on animals.
RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substance Directive (RoHS). The RoHS directive aims to restrict certain dangerous substances commonly used in electronics and electronic equipment.
SVHC: Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). A chemical substance (or part of a group of chemical substances) for which it has been proposed that the use within the European Union be subject to authorisation under the REACH Regulation.
